Description
Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are a functional polymeric sugar composed of 2-7 xylose molecules linked by β-1,4 glycosidic bonds. This ingredient offers a unique advantage by selectively promoting the proliferation of bifidobacteria in the intestine. Its bifidogenic factor is 10-20 times higher than other polymeric sugars. XOS are highly soluble in water (approximately 160g/100ml) and slightly soluble in ethanol and methanol. Production involves enzymatic xylan hydrolysis. The powder form (80 mesh) ensures easy incorporation into various formulations.
